What is PenMarker?
PenMarker is electronic signature software. You upload a PDF, place fields for each recipient, send it for signature, and get back a sealed copy with an audit trail. You can also record the sealed document's fingerprint on the XRP Ledger.
Are electronic signatures legally binding?
For most documents, yes. In the United States the ESIGN Act and UETA give electronic signatures the same effect as handwritten ones, and the EU's eIDAS Regulation recognizes them too. Some documents, such as certain wills and court orders, still need paper. PenMarker doesn't give legal advice.
Do signers need a PenMarker account?
No. Each signer receives an email with a private, single-use link and signs in their browser. Only the person sending the document needs an account.
What does it mean that a document is sealed?
When the last person signs, PenMarker produces the final PDF, records its SHA-256 fingerprint, closes the chained audit trail and adds a certificate of completion. If the file is changed afterwards, it no longer matches its fingerprint.
Do I have to use the blockchain record?
No, it's optional. When you choose it, PenMarker records one hash per sealed document on the public XRP Ledger, which gives you an independent timestamp. The document itself and personal data never go on the ledger.
How much does PenMarker cost?
There is a Free plan for the occasional signature, and paid Pro and Business plans for people and teams who sign every week. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.
